Potty Training Update & Turning 3.. Yippee!

So very long overdue for a post! When we left off last, Addi was turning 3 and we had begun some potty training. Potty training was going VERY well, we were quite surprised on how quickly she picked up on it. The pants off in the house technique was working...until that is, we had a few accidents on the furniture. Then Addi came down with a cold and she had gotten sick a few times and had gotten sick on the couch a few times.. Needless to say that our furniture was getting pretty disgusting pretty quickly. We got rid of our old smelly couch and got a new living room set. With our very first brand new pieces of furniture we decided we didn't want to take the chance on any more "accidents" so we reverted back to diapers/pull-ups for potty training. This just didn't seem to have the same effect for Addison because she wasn't telling us when she had to go to the bathroom, she was used to just running to her potty and going because she wasn't wearing pants. So we fell backwards in the potty training and kind of let it slack off.

For Addi's 3rd birthday she had a Chuck E Cheese birthday party. We had a total of about 30 guests and she had a BLAST! She was so upset to leave, and now every time she sees a commercial for Chuck E Cheese, or if we drive past it, she talks about her birthday party. She wants to go back, but I don't know if Mommy and Daddy are quite ready for that yet!

Of course the holidays follow closely behind Addi's birthday. We had a great Thanksgiving and Christmas. Addison was s-p-o-i-l-e-d per usual. This holiday was our first holiday with some new members of the family. Uncle Bubby has a serious girlfriend, Danielle, and Danielle has two children; Leah who is almost 5 and Jace who is almost 3. The holidays were even better with more little ones running around! It really makes you feel like a kid to see things through their eyes, and to get excited about things like they do. It was a great holiday and we are looking forward to many more together!

On New Years Day we decided to try to get back on the wagon with the potty training. We decided to try a slightly different approach than before, this time we were going to do away with diapers/pull-ups and go straight to "big girl panties". This way she would have something on, but still not a diaper so she would hopefully realize the difference. We asked her frequently if she needed to go to the bathroom, and other times she would tell us. She went all day in her big girl panties without any accidents. Fast forward we're almost at the end of January and she has been in big girl panties all month long, during the day. For naps and bed time we still do pull-ups/diapers. There have been a few accidents here and there, but in all honestly she is doing absolutely fantastic! We are well on our way. I was worried about her getting older and not being potty trained, but they really will do it when they are ready. This is something you cannot force them into.
